Where history signed in...

Located in the National Historic District overlooking the Missouri River

is the White House Hotel.  Built in 1868, the hotel is a three story brick

building with a two story wing containing thirty-six rooms.

It is enhanced by the original cast iron balconies, carved stone keystones

above the windows, ornate woodwork under the eaves and rising high above

is the iron-railed Widows Walk.

Inside, the hotel boasts coved ceilings, some 16 foot high,

arched hallways, 12" thick brick walls, wrap around full balconies

overlooking 1st street, and rooms authentically furnished in the pre-1900 period.

The hotels original saloon, the "First and Last Stop Saloon" located

at the front entrance, served all likes of spirits through out the hotels history.

The hotel has a full basement, including its own wine cellar,

and its own "rare" indoor water well.

We are a tour site, dedicated to the historic preservation

of this history-rich building located in Hermann,

the most beautiful town in Missouri !!

The White House Hotel Ticket Office & Information Booth

now has a wide range of interesting

facts and history of the historic building.

It is free to the public. It is located in the former

blacksmith & buggy shop off 1st Street.

Look for the open red doors!

"Guided Lantern Tours“

(A Living History Museum)

Contact us for special guided "LANTERN" tours.

These tours are in the evening, and under the lanterns of old.

Every room is lit the way it was in the 1880s, and the pot-bellied stoves

are lit as well. It is a beautiful step back in time.

You will forget what century you are in!

The tour includes live actors dressed in period costume,

going about their business as if it were 1886.

Some actors are dressed in authentic 100 year old dresses and hats.

This is truly an event that you will never forget.

It is a visit to a simpler time, when America was at its best.

Reservations for 15 or more required

Bus tours are welcome!
